BLENDING CVC WORDS !!

For the last few weeks we've been reviewing the phonics we learnt in the last couple of years just in case some students felt a bit rusty. We've also been brushing up on blending, which consists of breaking down a word into individual letters; we started to learn that at the end of last year and it's something that we will continue to do along this academic course.

Durante las últimas semanas hemos estado repasando los sonidos que aprendimos en los dos últimos años por si algún niño los tenía un poco olvidados. También hemos estado refrescando la técnica "blending" que consiste en desglosar una palabra en letras individuales y que es algo que empezamos a final del curso pasado y que va a estar presente durante todo este curso.

Firstly, we revised some individual phonics on the mini white boards!

Primero repasamos sonidos individuales en las pizarritas.

...and then we wrote Consonant Vowel Consonant words on the Interactive White Board.

...para después escribir palabras CVC en la pizarra interactiva.

5-YEAR-OLD CLASS - BUILDING UP ON DIGRAPHS !!

Once all the alphabet phonics had been covered, it was time to learn some digraphs. That's what we've been doing for the past few weeks and to reinforce them we carried out some fun activities.
First, we did a mini-white board activity to practise both the listening and writing skills.

Una vez estudiados todos los sonidos del abecedario, ibamos a aprender fonemas dobles. Es lo que hemos estado haciendo durante las últimas semanas y para repasarlos hemos llevado a cabo unas actividades muy divertidas.
Primero usamos las pizarritas para practicar tanto la destreza auditiva como la escrita.

On a different day we played a domino game with picture-word cards in which the kids had to figure out what word went with what picture. It wasn't an effortless task as some of the words were totally new to them.

Otro día jugamos al dominó con tarjetas, las cuales teníamos que resolver y decidir el dibujo que iba con su palabra. No fue tarea sencilla ya que algunas palabras eran del todo desconocidas para ellos.

Another day we played a phonics-challenge game, which was the one the children enjoyed the most! In this game, they showed their responsiveness as well as their competitiveness.
I'd like to thank my great friend and workmate Marta Ciprés for showing me this game.

Y otro día jugamos a un juego de retos de palabras que fue con el que más se divirtieron los chicos, en el que mostraron su capacidad de reacción y competitividad.
