YEAR 4D - THE GRUFFALO

Last term in Literacy, we worked on the storytelling 'the Gruffalo'. When we finished it, the students performed a role-play in order to enact what happens in the story. Such story is set in a deep dark wood with animal characters, which are: the Gruffalo, a mouse, a fox, an owl and a snake.

El pasado trimestre, estuvimos trabajando el cuento "the Gruffalo" en Literacy. Cuando terminamos la historia, los alumnos hicieron una escenificación de lo que pasa en la historia. Dicha historia tiene lugar en un profundo y oscuro bosque con animales como personajes, los cuales son: el Gruffalo, un ratón, un zorro, un búho y una serpiente.

YEAR 4 - PREHISTORY

When we studied the Prehistory period, we painted animals such as mammoths, musk, aurochs, etc. We decorated the corridor with prehistoric paintings to make it look like the Altamira cave.

Cuando estudiamos la Prehistoria, pintamos animales como mamuts, musk, bisontes, etc. Decoramos el pasillo con pinturas prehistóricas para que se pareciera a la cueva de Altamira.

YEAR 4 - THE DIAPHRAGM

In Natural Science, we've been studying the respiratory and circulatory systems, what happens when we breathe in and out and how the diaphragm works. We learnt that when we inhale the diaphragm contracts, pulling air into our lungs and when we exhale the diaphragm relaxes, pushing air out of our lungs. 

We made a craft activity in the classroom that represented that function and for that, we needed a plastic bottle, balloons and straws. Here's the result!

En ciencias naturales hemos estudiado el aparato respiratorio y circulatorio, qué ocurre cuando respiramos y expulsamos aire y cómo funciona el diafragma. Aprendimos que cuando inspiramos el diafragma se contrae, metiendo aire a los pulmones y cuando espiramos el diafragme se relaja, expulsando aire de los pulmones.

Hicimos una manualidad en clase que representaba esa función y para ello necesitábamos una botella de plástico, globos y pajitas. Aquí está el resultado.

YEAR 6 - DENSITY EXPERIMENT !!

In Natural Science we studied mass, volume and density. One day we carried out an experiment with objects of different mass, volume and density. The objects were submerged in water in order to find out their density. 

En Ciencias Naturales hemos estudiado masa, volumen y densidad. Un día hicimos un experimento con objetos de diferente masa, volumen y densidad. Los objetos se sumergían en agua para averiguar su densidad.

In another experiment, we had a standard can of coke and a sugar-free can of coke. The children had to figure out what would happen if we submerged the two cans in water. Would they float or sink?

En otro experimento, teníamos una lata de cola normal y otra sin azúcar. Los chicos tenían que averiguar que pasaría al sumergir las latas en agua. ¿Flotarían o se hundirían?

YEAR 4 - PREHISTORIC AXE !!

Since we've been studying Prehistory, we thought it'd be a good idea to make a replica of one of the tools people used most in the Paleolithic period, the axe! We made it with thin cardboard.

Como estamos estudiando la Prehistoria, pensamos que sería una buena idea hacer una réplica de una de las herramientas más usadas en el Paleolítico, el hacha! Utilizamos cartulina.

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

This first and complicated term has now come to an end!! It hasn't been easy as we had to overcome obstacles and hurdles but with our resilience and unity we managed to succeed, so well done everyone!!

I just want to wish you Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!!

Este primer y complicado trimstre ha terminado!! No ha sido facil ya que tuvimos que superar obstaculos y barreras, pero con nuestra fuerza y unidad, lo hemos logrado así que mi enhorabuena a todos!!

YEARS 4B & 4D - MEDIEVAL CASTLE

When we studied The Middle Ages in Social Science a few days ago, we decided to make a medieval craft castle. It took a bit of time to assemble it but here's the result.

YEAR 4D - SNAKES & LADDERS (CAN/CAN'T)

A few days ago while doing CAN/CAN'T activities we played the snakes & ladders game in the classroom in order to practise questions. The children got into groups so that they could work together and share their ideas.

Hace unos días mientras hacíamos ejercicios de CAN/CAN´T jugamos al juego "snakes & ladders" en la clase para practicar las preguntas. Los chicos estaban en grupos para trabajar juntos y compartir ideas.

YEAR 4D- MOANA PLICKERS

While we were doing the Moana story, we did an activity with Plickers in which students had to answer questions by holding a card with multiple choice answers. Here's a video clip of the activity.

Durante el cuento de Moana, hicimos una actividad con Plickers, en la cual los chicos tenían que contestar preguntas con una tarjeta con respuestas múltiples. Aquí tenéis un vídeo de la actividad.

HALLOWEEN 2020!

This year we celebrated Halloween not as we would have liked but in an unusual way due to the health situation. But nevertheless, we still did some activities, decorated our classroom door and danced to the Thriller song!

Este año hemos celebrado Halloween no como nos hubiése gustado sino de forma diferente debido a la situación sanitaria. Sin embargo, aún hicimos algunas actividades, decoramos la puerta de la clase y bailamos la cancion de Thriller!
